Tushar is one of those who makes you proud, because he took what you taught him and ran with it to the point that today he is working full time as an actor, doing theater and touching other younger kids lives. Well done my boy. Another very cool thing about this class.... if you look at the guy in the middle, with the brown dog puppet, he came to me after the class and told me how it brought back memories. Seems he spent his 7th birthday on the set of Sesame Street as a little boy, rubbing elbows with the greats like Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Karol Spiney. What a great story, it made my day.
Even with all this going on, the day wasn't over. After the classes were done, I re-connected with some wonderful friends. Marc Checkley, Bad Bowyer Rob Jenkin and Paul Pistore. Me and Marc CheckleyRobert Jenkin and Marc CheckleyPaul Pistore, Marc Checkley, Brad BowyerThe above guys Brad Bowyer, Robert Jenkin and Paul Pistore, have started a new company called Core Crew FX and guess who they want to come join them back in Singapore to start off a new 2017 with them.... yep Yours truly. A lot has to fall into place but I'm hoping it happens. Working with these guys on making critters and developing shows is my dream come true. They are also the guys on my Wackadoo Kids team. They share the vision.
June 6th 2016 Well my trip to Singapore was fantastic and I miss it already. The puppet classes were fun and fulfilling and I hope to be invited back next year. As for today, I am about to meet with my great friend Liz Siew who is going to illustrate my new children's book "Kitty Catty Daddy" Mock-up cover design by meThe actual illustrations done by Liz will be a much more subdued color pencil style like the main character below.
Design example by Liz SiewThe book is designed to encourage fathers to read bed time stories to their kids and have creative play with them. It's a fun series about a bus driver cat and his two kittens and the adventures into the imagination they go on.
June 23rd 2016 So Last night, I was invited to HANKids, an organization here in Kuala Lumpur, that works with kids and teaches them courses on social values and leadership training and all around skills to be a great human being. One of the students that attended my puppet class at AFCC enjoyed himself so much, that he arranged for me to visit the organization he works for in the hope that we can work together on some puppet based projects here in K. L. It was a fun time and emotional for me as I can't do one of those talks without telling stories of my personal experiences that bring up very rewarding and amazing things that have happened to me in my journey as a puppeteer. It's been a while since I posted but the last few weeks I have been working on something very fun and dear to my heart. One day I asked myself, what are the two things I love doing the most. The answer was easy. Puppetry and Gaming was obviously my answer so I decided to combine the two and create my own YouTube channel called Gobby the Gamer. The premise is that my character Gobby has a channel where he shares 15 to 30 minutes of his favorite games with his audience. It's been two weeks and I have over 30 subscribers and 200 plus views, so please fees free to take a look and enjoy Gobby the Gamer as he makes new gamer friends and plays some very fun and entertaining games. check out the link below, like, share and subscribe. Oh and write to Gobby at '[email protected]' September 19th 2016
I had a wonderful weekend as I was invited to the Kuala Lumpur World Clown Associations Clown Alley that was having an event for a local children's home. They were all invited to the Great British Circus that was in town and it was a very fun event because I got to meet all the local clowns. This is Coconut the clown, who is he president of the local WCA (World Clown Association) clown alley and the great guy who invited me to the event. It was great fun to go to a circus again and I have to say the clown in me was stirred once again. I am actually thinking seriously about getting back into clowning again after more than a decade in non-clown life.
I'm currently talking to Coconut about holding a puppetry workshop with his cluster of clowns and I look very forward to the prospect. Categories |
