I am starting up a new company called Planet Bizzaro Productions and it is under this company that Wackadoo Kids T.V. will hopefully see the light of day. This Project is my what I consider to be my next great passion. The one thing that will be a culmination of everything I have done up to this point. The Wackadoo Kids Project is going to be a FREE online network that showcases quality puppet based kids content that is designed to bring back the great social values we used to have in our society. The Network will consist of multiple original series that have fun lovable characters living funny lives and teaching (by example) values that every youngster should learn.
Bullying is out of control in our schools today....
Hate is way too prevalent in our homes, neighborhoods and even religious organizations and young kids today are not being taught tolerance for people who are different....
Treating others, the way you want to be treated is not a popular mind-set anywhere....
Greed is out of control across the board all over the world as big corporations plow toward their single goal, to be richer than GOD....
Many parents today don’t have time or don’t have the inclination to teach their kids many of these sacred social values that used to be common place. It’s partly due to the fact that they, themselves weren’t taught these values or they are too busy surviving and putting food on the table to worry about it. Honestly it shouldn’t be completely up to parents to instill these types of values into young kid’s minds anyway. There should be more influences in the everyday life of a child that reinforce those values every day of a child’s life. Children’s television, Teachers, faith based organizations should all be reinforcing such values, but it’s sad to say they simply are not.
Call me old fashioned, or retro or out of date, or whatever, but as a person who was raised keeping these values dear to my heart, I’m very passionate when it comes to trying to find creative ways of doing ‘GOOD’ in a world that is otherwise content to let “BAD” be the status quo. The Wackadoo Kids Project is not connected to any organization or religious doctrine, the Wackadoo kids Project is simply dedicated to introducing some of the lost social values our society used to have, back to the mainstream. This endeavor is probably primarily aimed at kids as they are the blank slates of today to be molded into the leaders of tomorrow and it’s an important thing to instill in them the values of the past that have become ‘overshadowed’ by the greed and selfishness of the modern mind-set.
I believe that anyone on the planet, no matter their religious beliefs, or lack thereof, can choose to be good and contribute positively to our world and the society around them. Gone (almost) are the days of random acts of kindness and doing good for people just because you can. It’s sad but true that today most people are living their lives with a “look out for #1” attitude with no empathy for those around them who are hurting or in need of help or simply a kind word or a smile.
My personal pet peeve is that the majority of children’s television is designed not to instill positive values in kids and teach them how to be kind hearted, productive, positive contributing human beings, but to make as much money as possible and sell advertising. Granted money makes the world go round, but in my opinion, so does being a decent human being. As a veteran children’s entertainer, puppeteer, Content creator, children’s book author and all around compassionate human being, I have grown tired of trying to “tic the boxes” of all the big named networks when it comes to creating children’s television content, especially when none of those “ticked boxes” has a thing to do with teaching positive values to the young minds of today.
WHAT IS THIS PROJECT ABOUT?
After asking myself “What was the one thing I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to” and as a guy who recently turned 50, that is a substantial question. I decided that I wanted to use my love for puppetry and storytelling for young minds to instil in those young minds some of the positive values that have been lost over the years. What are some of those values you may ask? Here is a list.... just for starters.
Values like:
Sharing
Friendship (Loving your friends and being a good friend back)
Tolerance (All humans are created equal and should be treated as such)
Anti-Bullying
Building other up instead of tearing them down
Random acts of kindness (Doing kind things for people just because you can)
Selflessness
Generosity
Respect
Environmental responsibility
Animal Care and Conservation
Using the recent breakthroughs in social media and internet media outlets, I want to create a YOUTUBE or a standalone website, channel called Wackadoo kids and create free content for youngsters that can be watched on any mobile device, from televisions, to computers to tabs and mobile phones and it is absolutely free to the viewing audience.
FUNDING:
Yes, making content costs money. People have to be paid for their contribution and that’s something that will have to be sorted out, but this project is NOT ABOUT profit. The funding will either come from some angel investor who is sitting on mounds of money and has money to contribute because he or she believes in the project’s goal or it could come through some sort of CROWD FUNDING effort. The project has to be viewed as something that is about contributing to society, making the world a better place, and not simply another profit making machine. Granted if it is successful and is a YouTube based project, given potential for various levels of popularity, if it is well received it could easily end up being self-sustaining just by the monetization of the content on YouTube if it becomes popular and has a large viewing audience, but the upfront cost of producing at least 13 episodes of its flagship project will be substantial. There is a veritable plethora content that is already in various stages of development. I envision most of the starting content to be live action and mostly puppet based. Eventually I see animated content coming, but that will be based on the success of the project as animation is a much more expensive proposition.
This sounds like a mammoth undertaking, but honestly there is already a team of extraordinary talents in the area of I.P. creation and children’s entertainment, who are in love with the idea and are anxious to put their talents to use to create world class entertainment with a message for the young viewers of today. The only thing missing is the fuel for the fire.
Give a child a fish and he’ll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he’ll eat forever.... but teach him to share that fish and everyone’s belly will be full.
Jump aboard the “Wackadoo Kid’s” project and help make the world a better place for the future generations.
